Great interest in the cinema workshop during the midterm break

Children participating in the “Midterm Break Film Club,” organized by the Bornova Municipality Film Office (BBFO), learned the filmmaking process and became familiar with cinema equipment through hands-on practice. The first workshop, designed for children aged 9–11, was completed with strong interest at the Uğur Mumcu Culture and Arts Center, while a second free workshop for the 12–14 age group will be held on January 28–30, 2026.

During the workshop, children gained basic knowledge about the filmmaking process, learned the fundamentals of stop-motion filmmaking, and had the opportunity to use sound and image equipment. Enjoying and learning at the same time during the school break, the children were introduced to the magical world of cinema.

The first phase of the free workshop, organized for children aged 9–10–11, was held over three days at the BBFO Workshop located in the Uğur Mumcu Culture and Arts Center within Büyükpark. Cinema-enthusiast children experienced the joy of creative production by working as a team and creating their own short film experiments.

Next up: the 12–14 age group
The second workshop, planned specifically for two different age groups, will be held for children aged 12–13–14 on January 28–29–30, 2026, between 14:00 and 16:30, again free of charge at the same BBFO Workshop location.

Commenting on the event, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki said:

Activities like these, which support our children’s imagination and bring them together with art—especially cinema—are extremely valuable. Through BBFO, we attach great importance to introducing children to creative production at an early age and helping them find spaces where they can express themselves.”
