Bornova Municipality launches hot soup service for citizens

With the arrival of colder weather, Bornova Municipality has begun offering hot soup every morning to 1,000 people at the Bornova Metro exit. Prepared in the kitchen of the Kent Lokantası (City Restaurant), the soups are served with bread and water. Participating in the first distribution, Mayor Ömer Eşki said, “Every morning, we will welcome our citizens with a warm cup of soup.”

As temperatures dropped, Bornova Municipality launched a hot soup distribution program for citizens heading out early in the morning. The first service took place at the Bornova Metro Station exit, during the busiest hours for students and workers. Starting at 7:00 a.m., the soup distribution will soon expand to different points across Bornova.

A warm start for 1,000 people every day with the taste of Kent Lokantası

Every morning, 1,000 people are served hot soup along with bread and water at the Bornova Metro exit. The soups are prepared under hygienic conditions in the kitchens of Bornova Municipality’s Kent Lokantası, a key social solidarity project. Offered in different varieties each day, the soups warm the hearts of both students and workers.

Mayor Eşki: “A warm greeting every morning”

Joining the first soup distribution, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki personally served soup to citizens, starting the day together with them. Highlighting the spirit of solidarity, he said:
“Every morning we will welcome our citizens at the Bornova Metro entrance with our hot soup service. On cold days, a little warmth can bring a big smile. Enjoy your meal.”

Solidarity tradition grows stronger

Continuing a practice that was well-received in previous years, Bornova Municipality is expanding the hot soup service this year. Seen as one of the best examples of social municipalism in the city, the program is welcomed by citizens from all walks of life — from students and workers to retirees and shopkeepers.
