Soup Service Reaches the Manisa Route

Mayor Eşki: “We Welcome Students and Workers with Hot Soup”

Bornova Municipality has expanded its hot soup distribution program beyond metro stations to include the bus stop at the beginning of the Manisa road near the Ege University Junction. Mayor Ömer Eşki stated that they are strengthening solidarity by welcoming especially students and workers traveling on the Manisa–İzmir route with hot soup. The initiative aims to support citizens at busy transportation points.

Continuing its social municipality approach, Bornova Municipality is expanding its hot soup service across the district. Following distribution points at Bornova Metro, Stadyum Metro, and EVKA-3 Metro, soup, water, and bread are now also being served at the bus stop located at the start of the Manisa road near Ege University Junction.

A new service point on busy routes

The initiative, launched on one of the busiest routes between Manisa and İzmir, aims to support citizens commuting to work and school, especially in the early morning hours. Distribution carried out via the municipality’s service vehicle has been well received by students and workers in the area.

“A moment of relief for everyone on the road”

Mayor Ömer Eşki visited the new distribution point, meeting with citizens and closely observing the operations. He emphasized that the initiative strengthens social solidarity.

Highlighting the expansion of the service, Eşki said:
“We are bringing our hot soup service, which we started in Bornova, to more locations every day. Now, at the Ege University Junction, at the beginning of the Manisa road, we are offering soup, water, and bread to our citizens. We want to welcome especially students and workers traveling between Manisa and İzmir with a warm bowl of soup in the early hours of the morning. This is not just a service—it is also a symbol of solidarity.”

A strong example of social municipalism

With this new initiative, Bornova Municipality aims to expand its social support network and reach more citizens. The services provided at busy transportation points offer both morale and practical support to residents at the start of their day.
