A Magnificent Night at Büyükpark

The Victory Concert organized by Bornova Municipality as part of the August 30 Victory Day celebrations brought thousands of citizens together at Büyükpark. During the lively evening, featuring the Turkish Folk Music Choir conducted by Maestro Salih Sütoğlu and renowned artist Bedri Ayseli, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki called on young people to take responsibility for and protect their country.

August 30 Victory Day, a turning point in Turkey’s national struggle, was celebrated with great pride in İzmir. Organized by Bornova Municipality at Büyükpark, the “Victory Concert” turned into a grand celebration with the participation of thousands of İzmir residents. Citizens filled the venue, waving Turkish flags and blending the spirit of victory with music for an unforgettable evening.

A Sea of Flags and a Feast of Folk Songs at Büyükpark

In the first part of the concert, the Turkish Folk Music Choir, conducted by Maestro Salih Sütoğlu, performed a selection of treasured heroic folk songs, including “Çanakkale İçinde Aynalı Çarşı,” “Atımı Bağladım Delikli Taşa,” and “İzmir’in Kavakları.” The enthusiasm reached its peak as the crowd at Büyükpark joined the songs as one giant choir.

Following the choir’s performance, legendary Turkish folk music artist Bedri Ayseli took the stage and gave the audience unforgettable moments with his beloved songs. The musical feast began with emotional pieces such as “Sarı Gelin” and “Suzan Suzi,” before turning into a lively celebration with “Mardin Kapı Şen Olur” and “Erik Dalı.”

Renowned Artist Praises Bornova

Bedri Ayseli, who won the hearts of the audience not only with his songs but also with his warm and sincere conversation, highlighted the transformation taking place in Bornova and the district’s improved public spaces.

Ayseli said:

Mayor Eşki’s Meaningful Message to Young People

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki took the stage to present plaques to the artists and emphasized the significance of Victory Day.

“August is a very special month for our nation. Today is the final day of a month in which we achieved many victories. Happy Victory Day.”

Calling on young people not to leave the country and emphasizing unity for Türkiye’s bright future, Mayor Eşki said:

“Our country is the most beautiful place in the world, our own paradise. Let’s join hands and make this country even more beautiful. Let’s make sure our children do not have to go to other countries.”
