11 April 2026

Zeki Güler Re-elected as President

The 7th Ordinary General Assembly with Elections of the Bornova Mukhtars Association was held with broad participation at the Altındağ Atatürk Cultural Center NGO परिसर. Bornova District Governor Muzaffer Şahiner and Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki also attended the assembly, where the current president Zeki Güler, running as the sole candidate, was re-elected.

Governor Şahiner: “Hand in hand for service”

Speaking at the meeting, District Governor Muzaffer Şahiner emphasized the strong cooperation among public institutions, local government, and neighborhood heads in Bornova. Highlighting the importance of acting together in serving citizens, Şahiner stated:
“As long as there is goodwill, there is no problem that cannot be solved. In Bornova, the central administration, local government, and our neighborhood heads work together like the fingers of a hand, like flesh and nail, in unity to serve our citizens.”

Şahiner also noted that although some authority and coordination issues may arise within the metropolitan system, these can be overcome through goodwill and coordination. He further stressed the importance of bringing all neighborhood heads together under a single association, stating that unity strengthens collective power.

Mayor Eşki: “Mukhtars are our most important stakeholders”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki stated that neighborhood heads are among the most important stakeholders in local governance. Emphasizing their critical role in delivering services at the neighborhood level, Eşki said that differing opinions are natural, but the key is to act together toward common goals. He underlined that the Mukhtars Association serves as a strong platform for representation in this regard.

Zeki Güler: “We will continue with the same determination”

Re-elected president Zeki Güler stated in his speech that since taking office in 2024, they have worked with an inclusive approach. He emphasized that the association is not above the neighborhood heads but rather a representative body that conveys their demands to relevant institutions. Güler added that they will continue their work with the same determination in the new term.

The main message of the general assembly was that unity, solidarity, and collective action will translate into stronger services for Bornova.
