16 June 2025

A New Era with the Stormlog Project

An important training event on climate change, renewable energy, and sustainability was organized under the STORMLOG Project (Strengthening the Role of Municipalities in Local Climate Action), led by the Bornova Municipality Directorate of Foreign Relations. The event, held at the Dramalılar Mansion, drew strong interest from members of the Bornova City Council, academics, and citizens.

The event featured a presentation by Dr. Levent Bilir from the Department of Energy Systems Engineering at Yaşar University’s Faculty of Engineering. Participants were informed about the impacts of the climate crisis, the role of local governments, and the technical aspects of the energy transition. At the end of the training, attendees shared their views and suggestions, contributing to Bornova’s sustainable future vision.

What Is the STORMLOG Project About?

Supported by the European Union, the STORMLOG Project aims to enable local governments to take on more effective roles in the fight against the climate crisis. As part of the project, Bornova Municipality is enhancing its institutional capacity and taking steps to raise public awareness. Through training sessions, workshops, and policy development processes, Bornova aims to establish a climate-friendly city model.

Mayor Eşki: “We will start climate justice at the local level”

Speaking about the project, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki stated:
“The climate crisis requires action not only at the global level but also at the local level. That’s why raising awareness among our institutions and citizens about climate change is a priority for us in Bornova. The Stormlog Project is a significant step in strengthening Bornova’s sustainability vision. We will initiate climate justice from the local level.”
