“A Moment in the Museum” Photography Contest Awards Ceremony Held at Dramalılar Mansion

Organized by the International Museology Association with the support of the Bornova Municipality, the international “A Moment in the Museum” Photography Contest has concluded. From over 400 photographs submitted from various regions of Turkey and abroad, the jury selected the most compelling shots. The jury, which included renowned names such as Sunay Akın, Nejat Çuhadaroğlu, and Coşkun Aral, evaluated the works based on their "ability to capture the moment, originality, and technical proficiency."

The winners received their awards at a ceremony held at the historic Dramalılar Mansion. First prize was awarded to Bahadır Yazar for his striking photo taken at the ancient site of Assos. Second prize went to İnci Kaygusuz for her photograph captured at the Gümüşler Monastery Museum in Niğde, and third place was awarded to a participant named Yılmaz. The Special Institutional Award was presented to the İzmir Museum of Trade History. Bahadır Yazar and the İzmir Museum of Trade History received their awards from Bornova Deputy Mayor Cem Arıkan and International Museology Association President Derya Manav.

A Bridge Between Art and Cultural Heritage

Speaking at the award ceremony, International Museology Association President Derya Manav stated that the competition attracted great interest both nationally and internationally:

“The jury had a very difficult time making their decisions. With this contest, we aim to encourage museum visits and raise awareness about preserving our cultural heritage. I observed that participants tend to visit more museums abroad. I hope this competition will boost interest in museums here in Turkey. I would like to thank the Bornova Municipality and Mayor Ömer Eşki for their support.”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized the significance of the competition for both the city and its cultural memory:

60-Photo Exhibition at Galeri Hamam Sanat

On the same day, an exhibition opened at Galeri Hamam Sanat, located within Dramalılar Mansion, featuring 60 photographs that were awarded or selected for the final exhibition. Captured in museum halls and the enchanting atmosphere of ancient cities, these photos transform into visual narratives that connect the spirit of place with the inner world of the viewer.
