Hygiene Training and Production Support for Producers Ahead of Bornova’s Jam Festival

Bornova Municipality is continuing its preparations for the 2nd Bornova Jam Festival, which will take place this September. As part of the festival, a comprehensive hygiene training program was organized in Yakaköy to help women producers ensure safe and informed food production. Conducted in cooperation with the Chamber of Food Engineers, the training focused on food hygiene and food safety.

The training was delivered by Food Engineer Cansu Öz Kelek, who provided practical guidance on hygiene practices, safe jam production processes, and the essential measures required to protect consumer health. Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions directly to the expert and receive valuable advice on their production methods.

Hygiene Kits and Production Support

Following the training, producers participating in the Jam Festival received comprehensive hygiene kits to help them maintain high production standards. Each kit included liquid hand soap, shampoo, lemon cologne, dishwashing detergent, garbage bags, sanitary pads, an apron, hairnet, face mask, microfiber cloth, dish sponge, disposable gloves, bath soap, toothpaste, and a toothbrush.

In addition, participants were provided with glass jars and sugar to support their jam production during the festival.

Mayor Eşki: “Quality Production Begins with Knowledge”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that the Jam Festival is not only an event showcasing traditional flavors but also an important initiative supporting women’s labor and local production.

“We attach great importance to ensuring that our local producers can present their products to the public in the healthiest and safest way possible. Quality production begins with knowledge and hygiene. That is why we support the festival not only through organization but also through education and production assistance. We aim for the Yakaköy Jam Festival to become a model of solidarity and local development for both our producers and Bornova.”

Through these training programs, Bornova Municipality aims to enhance producers’ knowledge, maintain the highest standards of hygiene and food safety throughout the festival, and strengthen the quality of local production.
