Bornova’s Youth Take a Step Closer to Their Dream Schools

Bornova Municipality’s Youth Education Center (BELGEM) has once again made a significant impact by providing free educational support. Students preparing for the LGS (High School Entrance Exam) and YKS (University Entrance Exam) achieved remarkable results. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized, “Creating equal opportunities in education is one of our greatest responsibilities.”

Operating under the Social Assistance Directorate of Bornova Municipality, BELGEM became a beacon of hope for hundreds of students this year. The center, which offers education from 4th to 12th grade and for graduates, produced successful results in both LGS and YKS.

“My dream is coming true,” say students who thanked BELGEM

BELGEM student Musa Emir Güleşçi shared that he improved his YKS ranking from 1 million last year to 50,000 this year, stating, “I’m aiming for Ege University’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering. With the support of our teachers here, we addressed our academic gaps and achieved great success. I’m grateful to our Mayor Ömer Eşki and all the teachers.”

LGS student Osman Kemal, who ranked in the 1.93% percentile, said he wants to become an architect and will continue attending BELGEM during high school. He plans to choose Cihat Kora Anatolian High School.

His mother, Zehra Hazır, also expressed her satisfaction: “We are very happy with both the exams and the teachers. Thank you to everyone who made this opportunity possible.”

Enes Malik Döneracun, who ranked 37,000 in the YKS verbal track, said he hopes to study Literature Education or Theology. Şaban Sarı, with a ranking of 40,000 in the science track and 20,000 in the TYT, stated that his goal is to be accepted into the National Defense University’s Faculty of Medicine.

Equality and solidarity in education

Bornova Municipality’s Director of Social Assistance, Damla Çelikkaya, stated that BELGEM’s contribution to education will continue to grow:
“This year, many of our students achieved outstanding results. We will expand our support by opening new branches in various neighborhoods of Bornova.”

BELGEM Director Süheyla Kayalı highlighted that they reached 2,000 students in the 2024–2025 academic year:
“Our success rate increases every year with the dedication of our students. We’ll continue to stand by them in the new term.”

Mayor Eşki: “Every young person has the right to access education”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized the importance of equal opportunities in education:
“Every young person has the right to dream and to pursue that dream. As Bornova Municipality, we are committed to making that possible. With BELGEM, we not only support academic success but also contribute to social justice. I wholeheartedly congratulate all our students on their achievements.”
