Master Craftsmen Shared Their Expertise, Music Enthusiasts Explored the Fine Details of Traditional Instrument Making

The “Instrument Making Introduction Days”, organized by Bornova Municipality at the Atatürk Library Garden, brought together music lovers and citizens interested in traditional craftsmanship. Throughout the two-day event, master instrument makers specializing in various fields shared their knowledge and experience, while participants had the opportunity to discover the craftsmanship behind instrument production.

Moderated by instructor Erkan Çabuk, the event attracted significant interest from Bornova residents passionate about both music culture and traditional arts.

The Journey of Wood Transforming into Music

On the first day of the program, Aydın Tutak Handmade Instruments Workshop and Burak Yılmaz Ouds Workshop provided participants with valuable insights into the materials and production techniques used in instrument making. Drawing on years of experience, the craftsmen explained their production processes through practical examples and answered participants’ questions.

On the second day, Ali Kemal Şahin introduced the work carried out at Tone Bağlama Workshop and explained the intricate process of crafting the bağlama, one of the most iconic instruments of Turkish folk music. The presentation drew considerable attention from attendees.
