Bornova Municipality Moves to a New Phase in Prestige Street Projects

Bornova Municipality has launched a comprehensive superstructure renovation project covering 850 meters along Süvari Street and its surrounding area, where infrastructure works have been completed. The project will transform the street with stamped colored asphalt, granite sidewalks, modern lighting, and enhanced landscaping. Mayor Ömer Eşki stated that the area will gain an aesthetic and comfortable appearance worthy of Bornovalı residents, similar to 159th Street.

After the completion of infrastructure works by İZSU and other institutions, Bornova Municipality has initiated a major superstructure improvement project on Süvari Street, one of the busiest areas of the district. Known for its cafés and restaurants, the street—an important social gathering point for Bornovalılar—is now being renewed with a modern and aesthetically focused arrangement.

Works Begin on an 850-Meter Route

The project encompasses Süvari Street, 152nd Street connecting to Mustafa Kemal Street, 159th Street located between Büyükpark and Küçükpark, and the continuation of this route, totaling 850 meters. Roads and sidewalks will be resurfaced with stamped colored asphalt; granite pavements, modern lighting systems, and strengthened landscaping will completely transform the character of the area. Once completed, the region will become a more aesthetic, more comfortable, and safer pedestrian zone.

Mayor Eşki: “It Will Be a Street Worthy of Bornovalılar”

Inspecting the works on-site, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki met with shopkeepers and residents to provide information about the project. Highlighting the importance of renewing this central area with a special arrangement, Mayor Eşki said:

“Previously, we said that 159th Street would become one of the most beautiful streets in Bornova and even İzmir. Thankfully, we kept our promise. Now, following the infrastructure improvements on Süvari Street—the heart of our district—we have begun working to create an appearance worthy of Bornova. Soon, this area will be presented to the public in complete harmony with 159th Street. We will continue working tirelessly until we bring our city to the most beautiful and comfortable living environment in Türkiye. I wish this project to be beneficial for Bornova.”
