Thousands of Residents Came Together at Open-Air Cinema

Bornova Municipality’s annual Open-Air Cinema Days brought beloved Turkish comedy films to 10 neighborhoods, uniting thousands of residents. The event series concluded in Işıkkent Cumhuriyet Square with the screening of “Aile Arasında” (Among Family). Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that the screenings created both nostalgia and solidarity among neighborhoods.

Launched on July 17 at Büyükpark, Bornova Municipality’s Summer Open-Air Cinema Days toured 10 neighborhoods, filling summer nights with laughter, nostalgia, and joy. The screenings, accompanied by complimentary soda and popcorn, offered residents delightful evenings under the stars.

“Laughing together connects us”
Highlighting how the event strengthened neighborhood solidarity, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki said:
“The magic of cinema lies in laughing together with our neighbors at the same screen. By bringing summer evenings to our neighborhood squares, we are creating not only cultural sharing but also a tradition that reinforces our community ties. We don’t want anyone in Bornova to spend summer alone.”

Strong participation across all ages
From children to women, from youth to the elderly, residents of all ages shared the same excitement during the Open-Air Cinema Days. Children filling the front rows added an extra touch of joy and liveliness to the events.
