Report Card Day Turned into a Festival for Little Ones

Bornova Municipality, in collaboration with the Sayra-Çınar Foundation and BAYETAV, transformed report card day into a vibrant celebration at Büyükpark with the "Welcome Summer Children's Festival." With workshops, animations, a bubble show, and storytime sessions, children both had fun and learned. Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki shared in the excitement alongside CHP İzmir MP Seda Kaya Ösen.

Seda Kaya Ösen: “Read lots of books”

Thanking Mayor Eşki for inviting her to the special event, Ösen said:
“You all look wonderful. I know you're full of excitement because today is report card day. You've worked hard all year. I wish you a great holiday and recommend you read lots of books. The best thing you can do during this long summer break is to read.”

Mayor Eşki: “As long as children smile, our hope for the future grows”

Mayor Ömer Eşki addressed the children and families with the following words:

“When I look around, I see a beautiful scene, like a flower garden. As long as children smile, our hope for the future grows. Kids, have lots of fun during the holidays. Please don’t upset your parents. They already do everything they can for you. Ask the municipality for anything you want. All parks and playgrounds are yours. All we ask from you is to block out the bad things you might hear—words like war or violence. This summer, just have fun. Thank your moms, dads, grandpas, and grandmas for bringing you here. I hope you have a wonderful summer and an even more wonderful life. I wish you all a happy holiday in advance.”

Büyükpark Filled with Children's Laughter

The event at Bornova Büyükpark brought together hundreds of children and their families. The festival featured cotton candy, popcorn, animation shows, and colorful bubble shows, turning the day into a joyful celebration for kids experiencing the excitement of receiving their report cards.

Throughout the event, various workshops offered children a fun and educational experience. The most popular ones included: Sensory Play, Mini Drama, Musical Story Time, Freestyle Coloring, Face Painting, Magnet Making, Bag Design, Salt Dough Crafting, and Mini Yoga. Additional workshops such as Necklace and Bookmark Making, Rhythm, Dance, Obstacle Courses, and Coding allowed children to explore their talents. The coding workshop, in particular, offered a technology-integrated learning experience.

A Storytelling Breeze by Berna Alakuş

Author Berna Alakuş’s participation in the Signed Book Distribution and Storytelling Workshop created special moments that enriched children’s imaginations. Attending children had the chance to get their books signed and enjoyed a magical storytelling session.
