Thousands of Residents Aged 5 to 80 Enjoy a Summer Filled with Art, Sports, and Culture

Bornova Municipality's Summer Hobby and Skills Development Courses are bringing together 1,706 participants in 25 different disciplines across 10 training centers, offering a summer full of art, sports, and culture. Designed for everyone from 5 to 80 years old, the courses help children spend their summer holidays productively while promoting the concept of lifelong learning. In total, 3,813 participants have benefited from the municipality's winter and summer courses throughout 2026.

Bornova Municipality continues to offer enriching summer experiences for residents of all ages through its Hobby and Skills Development Courses. With the end of the school year, children are spending their holidays immersed in art, music, sports, and cultural activities, while participants of all ages are enjoying the opportunity to develop new skills.

1,706 Participants, 424 Classes, 25 Different Courses

Following registrations held between June 3 and June 14, 2026, the Summer Hobby and Skills Development Courses are taking place from June 29 to August 28, 2026.

During the summer term, 424 classes have been organized for 1,706 participants, offering instruction in 25 different disciplines, including Mind Games, Bağlama, Ballet, Bendir, Instrument-Making Workshop, Children's Choir, Handicrafts, Home Textiles, Electric Guitar, Photography, Guitar, Folk Dance, Women's Choir, Kanun, Violin, Conservatory Preparation, Latin Dance, Modern Dance, Piano, Painting, Chess, Ceramics, Sirtaki, Percussion Instruments, and Zumba.

Training at 10 Different Centers

The courses are offered at 10 different educational centers throughout the district. From Bornova Center to Çamdibi, Altındağ, Pınarbaşı, Naldöken, and Evka-3, residents can easily attend classes close to where they live.

Led by experienced instructors, the courses help both children and adults improve their talents, strengthen social connections, and enjoy a productive summer. The Instrument-Making Workshop, conducted by instructor Erkan Çabuk, provides participants with practical, hands-on experience.

As part of Bornova Municipality's inclusive approach, rhythm group training is also offered for individuals with special needs in Çamdibi, while free workshops are organized in Naldöken and Pınarbaşı.

Thousands Also Participated During the Winter Term

Bornova Municipality's Hobby and Skills Development Courses continue throughout the year. During the 2025–2026 Winter Term, 2,107 participants attended 289 classes in 27 different disciplines.

Throughout the year, participants had the opportunity to showcase what they had learned through exhibitions, concerts, recitals, performances, and a chess tournament, sharing their achievements with the people of Bornova.

Combined, the winter and summer programs enabled 3,813 participants to engage in art, culture, and sports through Bornova Municipality's educational initiatives during 2026.

Mayor Eşki: "We Want Our Children to Spend Summer Creating, Not Just Looking at Screens"

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that the Hobby and Skills Development Courses are designed for residents of all ages, stating:

"We want our children to spend their summer holidays not only relaxing but also gaining new skills and engaging with art and sports. At the same time, we are creating environments where every resident—from the age of five to eighty—can develop themselves, socialize, and enjoy meaningful experiences. With our commitment to lifelong learning, we will continue to expand these courses year after year."
