13 May 2025

Bornova Municipality kicked off its celebrations for World Disability Week with events held under the slogan “We Are Aware, We Are Stronger Together.” The municipality organized a picnic in Homeros Valley with special children and their mothers and will continue to raise awareness throughout the week with dance performances, sapling planting, and workshop activities. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that they always stand by individuals with disabilities.

Disability Week Events Began with a Picnic

Bornova Municipality began its meaningful celebration of World Disability Week (May 10–16) with the slogan “We Are Aware, We Are Stronger Together.” The week’s events were launched with a special picnic held in Homeros Valley. During the well-prepared gathering, 40 special children and their mothers came together to sing songs, play games, and explore the valley with guides. At the end of the day, various gifts were presented to the children.

“We must not only be aware, but be present”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki stated, “Disability Week should not be limited to raising awareness alone. In Bornova, we always stand by our special individuals. We work to increase their participation in social life and to create the living conditions they deserve. We are stronger together, and we grow this strength through love and solidarity.”

Events Will Continue
