Awareness Campaign Against Cervical Cancer for Municipal Employees

Bornova Municipality’s Directorate of Health Affairs carried out an awareness campaign for female municipal employees on cervical cancer, the HPV vaccine, and the importance of smear tests. Construction sites and offices were visited, informational brochures were distributed, and women employees’ questions were answered. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that awareness-raising efforts to strengthen women’s health will continue.

Bornova Municipality’s Directorate of Health Affairs organized an awareness activity for female municipal staff to highlight the vital importance of early diagnosis in women’s health. Within the scope of the campaign, information was provided on cervical cancer, the HPV vaccine, and the significance of smear tests for maintaining a healthy life.

One-on-one Information Sessions at Construction Sites and Offices

Teams from the Directorate of Health Affairs visited female employees working at municipal construction sites as well as office staff in various departments, providing individual briefings. During these visits, informative brochures were distributed, and questions raised by women employees were answered by health professionals.

Emphasis on the Importance of Early Diagnosis

The campaign underlined that cervical cancer is largely preventable through regular smear tests and HPV vaccination. It was emphasized that early diagnosis both facilitates the treatment process and improves quality of life.

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki drew attention to the importance of the initiative, stating:
“Women’s health is society’s health. As local governments, we are responsible not only for providing services but also for strengthening the health awareness of our employees and all women living in our city. We will continue to expand preventive health services and raise awareness.”
