“Your duty is sacred, the order of Bornova is entrusted to you”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki met with municipal police (zabıta) officers on the 199th anniversary of the Zabıta Organization, emphasizing that their duty is both sacred and valuable, and pledging his support for the improvement of their rights. Eşki noted that the size of Bornova requires a stronger municipal police force. Zabıta Director Tamer Yiğit Güler, on the other hand, underlined that the organization will continue its struggle for rights.

Mayor Ömer Eşki came together with zabıta personnel at Dramalılar Köşkü on the 199th anniversary of the Turkish Zabıta Organization. In his speech, he highlighted that zabıta is one of the most important guarantees of social order, stating:
“The fundamental condition of being a state and building a modern life is order. You implement this order even in the smallest details of daily life. Your duty is sacred and valuable.”

Touching upon the rights-related problems of municipal police, Mayor Eşki said:
“In Turkey, municipal police, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and teachers are not fully receiving their due rights. As long as we remain silent, these injustices grow. I hope we will all build together the days when everyone receives their rightful share. In Bornova, we will contribute to this process with a clean and honest understanding of public service.”

“The scale of Bornova requires a stronger municipal police force”

Emphasizing that Bornova, with its industrial sites, entertainment centers, and dense residential areas, needs municipal police more than ever, Mayor Eşki said they are working to strengthen the force:
“I will do my best to increase your numbers, your strength, and your competence. New colleagues have joined our ranks. Together, we will make Bornova an even better home.”

“We will not remain silent in the face of injustice”

Stating that he recently visited Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor and CHP’s Presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is imprisoned in Silivri, Mayor Eşki said:
“The more we turn a blind eye to injustices, the more they grow. As long as we remain silent, we will all suffer damage beyond our strength. I hope we will all build together the days when all injustices come to an end and everyone receives their rights.”

Director Güler: “We will fight until we secure our rights”

Bornova Municipality Zabıta Affairs Director Tamer Yiğit Güler emphasized that the municipal police, as the enforcement power of municipalities, perform an indispensable duty for public order. He noted that municipal police personnel are deprived of many rights compared to other law enforcement units and stated:
“We will continue our struggle until our overtime is reflected in retirement, our occupational hazard compensation is recognized, and our rights are improved.”
