Women’s labor, art, and solidarity came together in Bornova

Bornova Belediyesi organized three events for International Women's Day: a concert, an exhibition, and Gift Days featuring women producers. Through these events, women’s labor, art, and solidarity were brought together in Bornova. Ömer Eşki emphasized that they will continue working to ensure women have a stronger presence in social life.

Bornova Municipality hosted three different events that combined art, production, and solidarity within the scope of March 8. Through programs ranging from concerts and exhibitions to events supporting women producers and discussions, women’s labor and creativity were highlighted across Bornova.

Mayor Ömer Eşki stated that the municipality continues to carry out initiatives to strengthen women’s role in every area of social life:

“Making women’s labor, art, and voice visible is one of the most important responsibilities of local governments. In Bornova, we will continue producing together with women and expanding solidarity for a more equal urban life.”

Women’s choir took the stage

The Women’s Choir Concert organized by Bornova Municipality met art lovers at the Çamdibi Şehit Er Adem Bilaloğlu Sosyal Tesisleri Nedret Güvenç Stage.

The choir, conducted by Selda Kesgi, offered the audience an enjoyable musical evening. The accompanying folk dance ensemble’s choreography was prepared by Metehan Turan.

The concert, where women came together through art, attracted significant interest and carried the spirit of solidarity of March 8 onto the stage.

“Cybele” exhibition reflected women’s creative power

The “Cybele Ceramic Exhibition”, consisting of works by students from the Ceramic and Glass Department of the Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Güzel Sanatlar Fakültesi, was presented to art lovers at the Yeşilova Höyüğü Ziyaretçi Merkezi.

Curated by Ali Temel Köseler, the exhibition featured works symbolizing the female figure and productivity. Inspired by Cybele, the exhibition brought together women’s creative power and artistic production.

Support for women producers: Gift Days

Products prepared by members of the Bornova Kadın Girişimi Üretim ve İşletme Kooperatifi and participants of the municipality’s Hobby and Skill Development Courses were introduced to residents during the Gift Days event held at Büyükpark.

At the event, where handmade products were displayed, women producers had the opportunity both to showcase their products and to strengthen their economic independence.
