Public Health and Safety Under Close Scrutiny

Ahead of the New Year, Bornova Municipality carried out comprehensive inspections at entertainment venues and food and beverage establishments across the district, conducted jointly by municipal police (zabıta) teams and food engineers. A total of 43 businesses were inspected with a focus on hygiene, licensing, product labels, and menu–price transparency. Administrative sanctions were imposed on those found to be non-compliant. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that inspections will continue uninterrupted to protect public health and safety.

Joint inspections by municipal police and food engineers

As part of the joint efforts carried out by zabıta teams and food engineers, businesses throughout the district were meticulously inspected. Particular attention was given to entertainment and food and beverage venues expected to experience high customer traffic on New Year’s Eve.

During the inspections, hygiene conditions, licensing status, product labels, and expiration dates were examined in detail. In line with new regulations, teams also checked whether menus and price lists were displayed at entrances and on tables, aiming to ensure clear and accurate information for consumers.

Hygiene and price transparency prioritized

In total, 43 businesses were inspected during field operations. As a result of the inspections:

• 7 businesses were fined for failing to comply with hygiene and price inspection rules,

• 4 businesses were penalized for causing disturbance,

• 5 businesses faced sanctions for non-compliance with regulations, and

• 4 businesses were penalized for not displaying menus and price lists.

Authorities underlined that the purpose of the inspections is not punishment, but the protection of public health and the prevention of potential grievances.

Mayor Eşki: “The health and safety of our citizens are our priority”

Commenting on the inspections, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki said:
“These efforts, which prioritize the health and safety of our citizens ahead of the New Year, will continue without interruption. I thank all businesses that comply with the rules and show due diligence.”

Mayor Eşki also emphasized that inspections will continue into the New Year, stating that the municipality is working with determination to improve service quality throughout Bornova.
