Five Facilities Renovated, New Football Pitches on the Way

Bornova Municipality has completely renovated the Doğanlar Football Field and four artificial turf pitches across the district, upgrading everything from the spectator stands to the playing surfaces. Inspecting the completed works on site, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki announced that all planned renovations—including the 909 Street Artificial Turf Pitch, which parents had requested through social media—have now been completed. "The first phase is finished. We are now moving on to the second phase, where we will build new sports pitches in the Altındağ, Pınarbaşı, and Kızılay neighborhoods," he said.

As part of its commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure and providing children with safer and higher-quality sports facilities, Bornova Municipality has completed a major renovation initiative across the district. Through the coordinated efforts of the Departments of Public Works and Sports Affairs, numerous sports facilities have been modernized. The improvements have received widespread appreciation from amateur sports clubs and local residents who regularly use the facilities.

Parents' Social Media Campaign Received a Positive Response

As part of the project, the worn-out artificial turf pitch located on 909 Street in Atatürk Neighborhood was completely renovated. During his inspection, Mayor Ömer Eşki shared the excitement of children and their families, emphasizing that this particular facility held special significance.

He noted that parents had collectively reached out to the municipality through social media, requesting the renovation of the pitch. Listening to the community's concerns, the municipality promptly fulfilled its promise and completed the project.

Major Improvements for Amateur Football and Neighborhood Sports

The municipality's investment program extended beyond neighborhood pitches to include larger facilities that host both amateur and professional matches.

The Doğanlar Football Field underwent a comprehensive renovation, including its spectator stands, locker rooms, playing surface, and perimeter fencing. In addition, the artificial turf pitches in Büyük Park, Yeşilçam, and Yunus Emre neighborhoods were upgraded to modern standards, with improvements ranging from new playing surfaces to enhanced lighting systems.

Mayor Eşki: "Now We Move to Phase Two"

Meeting with municipal officials and neighborhood representatives at the renovated facilities, Mayor Ömer Eşki said:

"We are at the artificial turf pitch on 909 Street in Atatürk Neighborhood. This place has a special meaning for us. Under almost every social media post we shared, parents whose children play football here would write: 'Please renovate the 909 Street football pitch.' Today, we are very happy to have completed those renovations and reopened the facility for public use.

Together with the pitches at Büyük Park, Yeşilçam, and Yunus Emre, as well as Doğanlar Stadium, we have completed all planned maintenance and renovation works related to our sports facilities. Now we are moving on to the second phase.

I would like to thank our Sports Affairs Director, our Public Works Director, and all of our engineers for their dedicated work. Very soon, we will begin constructing new artificial turf pitches in Altındağ, Pınarbaşı, and Kızılay while also renovating existing facilities where needed. This is something that makes us extremely happy, and I believe our citizens will share that excitement. We will even play the first match here together with our department directors and neighborhood heads."

New Sports Facilities Coming to Altındağ, Pınarbaşı, and Kızılay

With the successful completion of the first phase, Bornova Municipality has officially launched the second stage of its sports investment program.

Mayor Eşki emphasized that the municipality will continue working until every neighborhood has access to quality sports facilities. In the coming months, both renovation works and the construction of brand-new artificial turf pitches will begin in Altındağ, Pınarbaşı, and Kızılay, providing more opportunities for young people to engage in sports and healthy living.
