Solving Problems Together with Neighborhood Headmen in Bornova

Mayor Eşki: “We Listen to Problems on Site and Develop Solutions Together”

As part of the Regional Headmen Meetings held regularly each month, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki met with neighborhood headmen from the Altındağ region. Listening to their requests and suggestions, Mayor Eşki stated, “We listen to problems on site and develop solutions together.”

The meeting, held at Dramalılar Mansion, was attended by the headmen of Çamkule, Merkez, Meriç, Zafer, Serintepe, Tuna, Birlik, and Koşukavak neighborhoods, as well as deputy mayors and department directors from relevant municipal units, including cleaning services, public works, parks and gardens, and municipal police.

During the meeting, which focused directly on neighborhood needs, previous requests and the actions taken in response were reviewed, while new needs and pending issues were also discussed. Participants exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including infrastructure, environmental improvements, parks, and cleaning services.

“We Are Expanding Participatory Local Governance in Our Neighborhoods”

Speaking at the meeting, Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that neighborhood headmen are among the most important partners of local governments in problem-solving. He said:

“We regularly meet with our headmen to strengthen our understanding of governing Bornova together. Every neighborhood has different needs; therefore, listening to issues directly from the field and producing solutions collectively is of great importance. By working in coordination with all municipal units, we will continue to provide equal and efficient services to every part of Bornova. Every request conveyed by our headmen serves as valuable guidance for us.”

Held Monthly Across Five Regions

The Regional Headmen Meetings organized by Bornova Municipality have become a regular practice and are held each month in five different regions of the district. These meetings allow neighborhood priorities to be evaluated directly with the relevant municipal departments, while ensuring that solution processes are closely monitored.

It was stated that these gatherings, which strengthen the municipality’s participatory and on-site governance approach, will continue in the future.
