Solidarity for Berk Yıldız Begins in Bornova

Mayor Eşki Calls on the Community to Support Berk Yıldız

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki has invited all residents and members of the business community to join a fundraising live broadcast for DMD patient Berk Yıldız on Tuesday evening (today). After successfully completing fundraising campaigns for SMA patients Esma and Abbas Miran, the people of Bornova are now uniting to bring hope to Berk.

The community-wide campaign to support children living with rare genetic neuromuscular diseases continues with growing momentum. Following the successful solidarity efforts for SMA patient Esma, Bornova Municipality hosted the week-long "Bi Hayat Fest" at Büyükpark last year. Featuring concerts, workshops, and community stands, the festival raised the funds needed for the treatment of 18-month-old SMA Type 1 patient Abbas Miran İbiş, allowing both children's campaigns to reach their goals.

A New Goal: Supporting Berk Yıldız

With Abbas Miran's treatment fund successfully completed, Bornova's next solidarity campaign has turned toward Berk Yıldız, a child living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) in the Çamdibi neighborhood. Mayor Ömer Eşki thanked the people of Bornova for their remarkable compassion and announced that the community's next mission is to complete Berk's campaign. To help accelerate fundraising efforts, a special live broadcast has been organized on social media.

Mayor Eşki Invites Residents and the Business Community

Emphasizing that families of children diagnosed with rare diseases are often left to face treatment challenges on their own, Mayor Ömer Eşki called on both citizens and local businesses in a video message:

"As you know, one of the greatest challenges of our time is faced by children living with SMA and DMD. Unfortunately, these children and their families are often left alone to cope with the burden of treatment. Supporting them is a responsibility we all share as a community. One of these children is Berk Yıldız from our Çamdibi neighborhood. To stand by him, we will join his live fundraising broadcast on Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m. I invite all the people of Bornova and our business community to take part in the broadcast and support dear Berk. Let us save one more starfish and bring hope to another family. We look forward to seeing you all at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday."
