Local Seeds Touched by Children’s Hands in Bornova

Bornova Municipality hosted students from Çimentaş Primary School at the Ecological City Local Seed Center, where they were taught the importance of local seeds and participated in a strawberry seedling planting activity. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that the bond children form with the soil is a seed of hope for the future.

Bornova Municipality added another event to its series of activities aimed at raising environmentally conscious future generations. This time, the Ecological City Local Seed Center welcomed a group of 50 fourth-grade students from Çimentaş Primary School. Organized by the Agricultural Services Directorate, the event introduced children to the significance of local seeds and encouraged them to connect with nature. As part of the program, the young students planted strawberry seedlings grown from local seeds. The event was both educational and enjoyable.

Mayor Eşki: "We are planting hope for the future"

Speaking about the event, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki said:
“Our greatest assurance in creating a nature-friendly city is our children. Preserving local seeds is important, but passing this awareness on to future generations is just as crucial. What our children are doing here today is more than just planting a seedling — they are planting hope for the future.”
