Mayor Eşki inspects the arrangements around schools

Bornova Municipality continues its road and pavement improvement works around school areas to increase student safety. Mayor Ömer Eşki visited the works around Bornova Anatolian High School, stating that safety barriers and secure pedestrian areas are being established to protect students from traffic. A new intersection arrangement is also planned in the area to ensure smoother traffic flow.

Bornova Municipality is accelerating its road, pavement, and intersection improvement works across the district, with special emphasis on creating safe pedestrian crossings around schools. In this context, Mayor Ömer Eşki inspected the works being carried out behind Bornova Anatolian High School, around Selçuk Yaşar Boyacılık Vocational and Technical High School and Mevlana Celalettin Rumi Imam Hatip Middle School.

“We are taking measures to protect our children from traffic”

Speaking during the inspection, Mayor Eşki emphasized their student-centered approach:
“We are in the area behind Bornova Anatolian High School, where Selçuk Yaşar Boyacılık Vocational and Technical High School and Mevlana Celalettin Rumi Imam Hatip Middle School are located. Hundreds of students leaving these schools had to walk on a very narrow sidewalk. Today, our teams will fill the adjacent empty area and install safety barriers. Responding to the school administration’s request, we are ensuring the safety of our children by protecting them from traffic. Very soon, this area will be safe, and with the new arrangement we will implement, the opposite side of this road will be connected to the new intersection, creating uninterrupted traffic flow.”

Improved traffic flow, increased safety

With the new intersection arrangement, Bornova Municipality aims to create uninterrupted traffic flow in the area. Once completed, the works will significantly improve the safety of both students and residents. Similar safety-focused improvements are planned to be expanded around other schools across Bornova.
