Republic Day Celebrations in Bornova Begin with Children
Bornova Municipality kicked off its October 29 Republic Day celebrations with colorful events putting children center stage. The “Winds of Retro” choir concert, offering a nostalgic musical experience at the Nevzat Kavalar Cultural Center, and parent-child workshops held across the neighborhoods spread the spirit of the Republic throughout the district. The celebrations culminated in a heartfelt performance of the İzmir March, sung in unison by all participants.
In Bornova, the heart of İzmir, celebrations marking the anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic began with great excitement and enthusiasm. The first participants in Bornova Municipality’s extensive program of events, designed to appeal to citizens of all ages, were children—the guarantee of our future. This series of activities, bringing together education, culture, and the arts while involving both children and their families, once again showcased the bright and hopeful spirit of the Republic to district residents.
“Winds of Retro” at the Nevzat Kavalar Cultural Center
As part of the artistic program, talented children receiving training through Bornova Municipality’s Hobby and Skills Development Courses took to the stage. At the event hosted by the Nevzat Kavalar Cultural Center, the Children’s Choir, conducted by Choir Director Melek Koç Barut, delivered an unforgettable performance. At the concert, organized under the theme “Winds of Retro,” nostalgic melodies came to life through the clear, bright voices of the young performers. Their impressive performance and festive enthusiasm received enthusiastic applause from the audience filling the hall.
Republic-themed workshops bringing parents and children together
Republic Day celebrations extended beyond concert halls and into the neighborhoods. The Children’s Play and Activity Centers serving the Evka 3 and Altındağ neighborhoods hosted activities that were both fun and educational. Special workshops were organized with the active participation of parents as well as children. During these meaningful events, expert instructors explained the importance, values, and achievements of the Republic to the children in age-appropriate language they could easily understand.
Dreams brought to life through art, celebrations crowned by the İzmir March
Following the educational discussions, children had the opportunity to express their inner worlds and dreams freely through art. In addition to artistic activities, they took part in rhythm exercises accompanied by music. Colorful and joyful moments unfolded on a specially designed activity course aimed at strengthening family bonds and enhancing communication between parents and children. The day-long workshop program gave children the chance to learn while enjoying quality time with their families. It concluded on a magnificent note as all participants joined together to sing the İzmir March with enthusiasm and in one voice.
