The collective bargaining negotiations between Bornova Municipality and the DİSK General-İş Trade Union Branch No. 7 were concluded with an agreement in approximately one month, well ahead of the legally prescribed period. Under the agreement, wages of BORBEL Inc. workers were increased by 14.5%, and the raise will be reflected in salaries as of the month the contract is signed. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that completing the process through social dialogue has strengthened labor peace.

The negotiations held between Bornova Municipality and DİSK General-İş Trade Union Branch No. 7 resulted in a swift consensus. Reaching an agreement in just one month—far earlier than the five-month period allowed by law—marked a significant achievement for a municipality of this scale.

14.5% Pay Raise for BORBEL Inc. Workers

Within the scope of the agreement, it was decided that the base wages of workers employed by BORBEL Inc. (Bornova Municipality Personnel Joint Stock Company) would be increased by 14.5%. In addition, increases in various categories of fringe benefits were also included.

Raises to Be Reflected in Salaries Without Retroactive Claims

The collective bargaining agreement will be signed later this month at a ceremony attended by the union’s senior management. Thanks to the early completion of the agreement, the wage increases will be reflected in salaries as of the month of signing. Thus, there will be no retroactive receivables for workers and no outstanding liabilities for the municipality; all employees will receive their increased wages on time.

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki underlined the importance of concluding the process swiftly through mutual understanding and social dialogue, stating that the agreement both protects the value of employees’ labor and upholds the municipality’s financial discipline. He emphasized that this approach, which prioritizes labor peace in Bornova, is one of the fundamental pillars of their institutional governance philosophy.
