Record Number of Applications for Bornova Short Film Days!

A total of 1,417 films from 72 countries have applied to the 6th International Bornova Short Film Days, organized by Bornova Municipality. As the application period has officially ended, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that this remarkable level of interest demonstrates the city’s strong position in the field of culture and the arts. The festival will transform Bornova into an international meeting point for cinema this April.

Organized by Bornova Municipality, the 6th International Bornova Short Film Days has once again attracted significant global attention. For the festival, which will take place on April 24–25–26, 2026, a total of 1,417 films from 72 countries were submitted. With applications now closed, the high level of interest has drawn considerable attention.

The festival is preparing to bring Bornova together once again with the universal language of cinema.

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki stated that the overwhelming interest in the festival underscores Bornova’s strong standing in the cultural and artistic sphere:

“Receiving 1,417 film submissions from 72 countries is a great source of pride for us. This clearly shows that Bornova has become a prominent international hub for the arts. We will continue to support young filmmakers and grow Bornova through culture and art.”

Eşki also emphasized that cinema is a universal language that brings different cultures together, noting that the festival is not merely a competition but also a platform for cultural exchange.

Applications Closed, Excitement Begins

Announced with the message, “Applications have ended. Thank you for your interest,” the process now moves to the preliminary jury evaluations.

For three days in April, Bornova will experience a vibrant cinematic atmosphere, hosting international artists and cinema enthusiasts through short film screenings, panel discussions, and various cultural events.
