Rain Ends in Bornova, Asphalt Paving Begins

2 March 2026

Road Works Accelerated with Night Shifts After the Wettest February in Recent Years

Following one of the rainiest Februarys in recent years, Bornova Municipality has accelerated road construction and renovation works. Asphalt paving was carried out at night on Aydınlar Street in Egemenlik Neighborhood, where the route had deteriorated due to heavy-tonnage vehicles using the industrial sites and the Çeşme–Aydın Highway connection road. Mayor Ömer Eşki stated that the works will continue in a way that does not disrupt urban life while improving transportation safety.

With the end of heavy rainfall, Bornova Municipality has regained momentum in road construction and renewal efforts across the district. Planned works, particularly on main arteries with dense heavy-vehicle traffic, are being carried out at night to avoid disrupting traffic flow.

Overnight Asphalt Work on Aydınlar Street

Asphalt paving was completed on Aydınlar Street in Egemenlik Neighborhood, a route heavily used by large-tonnage vehicles serving the Freight Carriers, Foundry Workers, and Shoemakers Industrial Sites, as well as the Çeşme–Aydın Highway connection road.

Taking potential daytime traffic congestion into account, the work began late at night and continued uninterrupted until the early morning hours. The renewal of the worn road surface has enhanced both driving safety and transportation comfort.

“We Are Working Without Disrupting Urban Life”

Mayor Ömer Eşki stated that road works, previously paused due to adverse weather conditions, will continue without slowing down:

“We have left behind one of the rainiest Februarys in recent years. As soon as weather conditions became favorable, our teams accelerated the planned road renewal works. By working at night in critical areas such as Aydınlar Street—frequently used by heavy vehicles—we are careful not to disrupt the daily lives of our tradespeople and residents. We are on the ground in every neighborhood of Bornova to ensure safer and more comfortable roads.”

Goal: Safer and More Comfortable Transportation

Municipal officials stated that asphalt paving, road maintenance, and repair works will continue across the district according to priority needs. Renovations, particularly in industrial zones and along major transportation routes, aim to ensure uninterrupted commercial activity and enhance traffic safety.
