Mayor Ömer Eşki Welcomed the August 30 Victory Day Off-Road Convoy at Abide-i Hürriyet Square

As part of the August 30 Victory Day celebrations, a large convoy organized by the FAC Off-Road and WILD ACT Off-Road communities brought the festive spirit to the streets of İzmir and concluded with a spectacular finale in Bornova. The İzmir tour of the convoy, which featured 40 specially equipped vehicles departing from Balçova and Karşıyaka, ended at Bornova’s Abide-i Hürriyet Square. The convoy was welcomed by Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki.

Off-road enthusiasts set out from Balçova and Karşıyaka for the August 30 Victory Day celebrations, carrying the pride and enthusiasm of Victory Day throughout İzmir. Accompanied by anthems and Turkish flags, the convoy entered Bornova. At Abide-i Hürriyet Square, the final stop of the convoy, participants gathered and celebrated the spirit of August 30 together with Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki.

“We Carry the Flame of Independence from Bornova into the Future”

Following the completion of the convoy, Mayor Ömer Eşki gave the participants information about Abide-i Hürriyet Square. Expressing his pleasure at hosting the groups in Bornova following the Victory Day convoy, Mayor Eşki said:

“August 30 is the declaration to the entire world of our nation’s character of independence, which refuses to accept subjugation, and its determination to remain free. Today, this convoy, which set out from Balçova and Karşıyaka and gathered here at Abide-i Hürriyet Square, the heart of Bornova, is the finest expression of the flame of independence within us and the spirit of solidarity fueled by our love for the Republic.

I sincerely thank the FAC Off-Road and WILD Off-Road communities for bringing this enthusiasm from different parts of İzmir to Bornova, beneath the shadow of our monument to independence. We will continue to carry our country toward a brighter future by firmly embracing the achievements of the Republic. Happy Victory Day!”

“We Brought the Two Sides of İzmir Together in Bornova”

WILD ACT President Vural Yücel said:

“We set out in convoys of off-road vehicles from two different parts of İzmir, Balçova and Karşıyaka. We concluded our journey and came together here, in this park, which embodies the honor and historical legacy of Türkiye, as well as the legacy of the Republic and Victory Day and the great commanders, leaders, and revolutionaries who shaped our history.

We experienced the enthusiasm of the Republic and Victory Day here. We sincerely thank our Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki for opening this area to us.”

FAC Off-Road Community President Fatih Kurt said:

“We concluded our convoy of approximately 40 participants in Bornova as part of the August 30 Victory Day celebrations. Together with all our participants, we are celebrating this holiday, gifted to us by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with great enthusiasm.

We will continue our efforts to honor the holidays Atatürk gifted us, to keep their significance alive, and to carry their spirit forward to future generations.”

The event concluded at Abide-i Hürriyet Square with residents taking commemorative photographs alongside the off-road vehicles and continuing the Victory Day celebrations.
