16 Commissions Established, Animal Rights Commission Formed

At the Bornova Municipality April Ordinary Council Meeting, chaired by Ömer Eşki, council clerk members, deputy chairpersons, and executive committee members were determined, while members of a total of 16 commissions were elected. During the meeting, the Animal Rights Commission was established, and the Social Services Commission was renamed as the “Accessible Bornova and Social Services Commission.” It was also announced that the second session of the council will be held on April 6.

The April Ordinary Council Meeting of Bornova Municipality took place at the Nevzat Kavalar Cultural Center Council Hall under the chairmanship of Mayor Ömer Eşki. During the session, clerk members, deputy chairpersons, and executive committee members—who will shape the new term—were elected by secret ballot, while members of 16 commissions, including the newly established Animal Rights Commission and the renamed Accessible Bornova and Social Services Commission, were elected by open vote.

Council administration takes shape

Following the secret ballot, Melek Kartal, Tasel Ertürk, and Ramazan Özdemir were elected as principal clerk members, while Şebnem Türe, Samet Dikilitaş, and Musa Çevik were selected as substitute members. Barbaros Reşat Taşer was elected as First Deputy Chairperson, and Sait Tatlı as Second Deputy Chairperson. Hüseyin Alyüz, Recep Çakmakçi, and Ali İhsan Bayer were elected to the executive committee.

Commissions determined by open vote

During the meeting, commissions responsible for various municipal functions were also finalized. The Planning and Budget Commission consists of Ahmet Tokem, Sabri Çam, Samet Dikilitaş, Akın Dalgıç, and Adem Kasacı. The Zoning Commission includes Mehmet Sayın, Erol Mutlu, Talat Aslan, and Selma Kasa. The Legal Commission comprises Tansel Ertürk, Nihat Yağbasan, Rıfat Efe, Levent Taşer, and İsmail Bedir.

The Environment and Health Commission includes Melek Kartal, Hüseyin Ekin, Nihat Yağbasan, Sait Tatlı, and Ramazan Özdemir, while the Tradesmen Commission consists of Hüseyin Ekin, Sabri Çam, Talat Aslan, Osman Zeki Özkebapçı, and Levent Taşer. The Gender Equality Commission includes Yağmur Yurdakul Özkan, Şebnem Türe, Melek Kartal, Selma Kısa, and Emel Dalkıran.

The Urban Renewal Commission comprises Barbaros Reşat Taşer, Mehmet Sayın, Cem Arıkan, Osman Zeki Özkebapçı, and Veysel Karani Batı. The Transportation Commission includes Hüseyin Ekin, Samet Dikilitaş, Melek Kartal, Ahmet Mutlubaş, and Ramazan Özdemir. The Culture, Tourism and Foreign Relations Commission consists of Duygu Bölük, Cem Arıkan, Barbaros Reşat Taşer, Emel Dalkıran, and Veysel Karani Batı.

The Commission for the Evaluation of Municipal Properties includes Tansel Ertürk, Rıfat Efe, Sabri Çam, Musa Çevik, and Akın Dalgıç. The Youth and Sports Commission consists of Samet Dikilitaş, Hüseyin Alyüz, Mehmet Barış Aysal, Adem Kasacı, and Ahmet Mutlubaş. The Agriculture and Cooperatives Commission includes Hüseyin Alyüz, Talat Aslan, Samet Dikilitaş, Veysel Karani Batı, and Osman Zeki Özkebapçı.

The Urban Risks and Natural Disasters Commission comprises Barbaros Taşer, Duygu Bölük, Cem Arıkan, Ercan Tekin, and Ramazan Özdemir, while the City Council Commission includes Cem Arıkan, Ahmet Tokem, Tansel Ertürk, Ercan Tekin, and Musa Çevik.

New commissions draw attention

One of the highlights of the meeting was the establishment of the Animal Rights Commission. Melek Kartal, Yağmur Yurdakul Özkan, Şebnem Türe, Akın Dalgıç, and Emel Dalkıran were elected as its members. In addition, the Social Services Commission was renamed as the “Accessible Bornova and Social Services Commission,” with Şebnem Türe, Melek Kartal, Yağmur Yurdakul Özkan, Musa Çevik, and Adem Kasacı appointed as members.
