“Gazi Paşa’s Bornova” Exhibition Opened at Dramalılar Köşkü

The “Gazi Paşa’s Bornova Photo Exhibition” was opened at Dramalılar Köşkü under the hosting of Bornova Municipality. The exhibition, which reveals the ties Atatürk established with Bornova, consists of 11 photographs and 15 newspaper clippings unearthed from the archive of city historian Altan Altın. The exhibition will remain open until September 19.

Archived documents shed light on Bornova’s history
City Historian Altan Altın stated that the exhibition, prepared after years of archival research, once again demonstrates the importance Atatürk attached to Bornova. He emphasized that Atatürk came to the district almost every day because the Western Front Headquarters was located in Bornova during İzmir’s liberation process. Altın added: “Atatürk also personally requested the establishment of an Agricultural School in Bornova. He visited this school on every trip to İzmir. This exhibition is a product of documents and photographs that shed light on that history.”

Bornova Deputy Mayor Duygu Bölük highlighted the significance of opening the exhibition as part of the September 9th İzmir Liberation Day celebrations, saying: “It is an honor to remember the value Atatürk carried for İzmir and Bornova through this exhibition. I thank Altan Altın for bringing this valuable work to us.”

Open until September 19
The exhibition, open between September 8–19, 2025, consists of 11 photographs and 15 newspaper clippings. Featuring never-before-seen images, the exhibition showcases scenes from the garden of the Bornova Agricultural School as well as lesser-known photographs of Atatürk. Attracting great interest from Bornova residents, the exhibition sheds light on Atatürk’s days in Bornova.
