Natural Flavors Meet the People of Bornova
Countdown Begins for the 2nd Traditional Jam Festival
Bornova Municipality has kicked off the countdown to the 2nd Traditional Jam Festival, which will take place on September 6, 2026, at Yakaköy Village Square, with a tasting event held at Çamdibi Atatürk Park. Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki invited all residents of İzmir to taste the traditional and organic jams prepared by local village women with their own hands. Throughout August, tasting stands will be set up at various locations across the district, spreading the festival spirit throughout Bornova.
Bornova Municipality launched the promotional activities for this year's second edition of the Jam Festival with a colorful tasting event at Çamdibi Atatürk Park. Ahead of the major gathering at Yakaköy Village Square on September 6, 2026, handmade jams prepared by local producers participating in the festival were offered to the people of Bornova. On the first promotional day, residents showed great interest in the jams produced using natural and traditional methods.
Mayor Eşki: "Organic flavors prepared using our mothers' and grandmothers' traditional methods will be at the festival"
Speaking at the promotional event, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki highlighted Bornova's deep-rooted agricultural and culinary culture. Announcing that this year's festival would be even more vibrant and attract greater participation, Mayor Eşki said:
"Our first Jam Festival last year attracted great interest and left us with wonderful memories. This year, we are raising the bar and organizing an even larger and more comprehensive festival. In order to spread the excitement of the festival throughout Bornova, we have launched tasting events in our neighborhoods. Although experts may warn that 'it causes weight gain' or that 'sugar is harmful,' all of the jams at our festival are organic and contain no additives. Our village women are preserving the traditional methods of our mothers and grandmothers and preparing these delicious products in the old-fashioned, natural way. I invite everyone to this wonderful gathering, where health and natural ingredients are at the forefront. Those who don't come will miss out! I hope to see everyone together on September 6 at Bornova's 2nd Traditional Jam Festival."
