A Meaningful “Pilaf Day” at Türkiye’s First-Ever Moto Courier Park

Türkiye’s first Moto Courier Park, opened by Bornova Municipality at Tümgeneral Mehmet Suphi Kula Park in Kazım Dirik Neighborhood, hosted a meaningful “Pilaf Day” event. Organized in cooperation with the Bornova City Council and relevant courier associations, the gathering brought together hundreds of motorcycle couriers over chicken and rice, giving them an opportunity to directly share their professional concerns with the local government.

Moto couriers, who work under demanding field conditions and race against time every day, came together at a meaningful event in Bornova. The “Moto Courier Pilaf Day,” organized by the Bornova City Council, the Bornova City Council Moto Courier Working Group, and the Bayraklı and Bornova Moto Courier Association, brought together industry workers and local residents. The event was held at the Moto Courier Park within Tümgeneral Mehmet Suphi Kula Park, which was opened by Bornova Municipality in Kazım Dirik Neighborhood as a dedicated space for couriers to rest and socialize. With high attendance, couriers had the opportunity to directly communicate their professional challenges to local government representatives.

Warm Conversations Over Chicken and Rice

Hundreds of couriers from Bornova and surrounding districts attended the event on their motorcycles. Bornova Municipality served guests chicken and rice, ayran, and soft drinks. The gathering attracted strong interest not only from couriers but also from neighborhood residents, turning into a warm display of community solidarity.

The workers who spend their days on the road shared with municipal officials the difficulties they face in being noticed in traffic, the pressure to deliver quickly, and their demands for greater professional security. Together, they discussed possible solutions to these challenges.

Mayor Eşki: “We Will Always Stand by Our Moto Couriers”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki visited the couriers at their tables and listened to their concerns one by one. Emphasizing that couriers are one of the most important dynamics of urban life, Mayor Eşki said:

“The dedication of our fellow moto couriers, who tirelessly travel our streets day and night, summer and winter, is deeply valuable to us. By establishing this Moto Courier Park, where they can rest and take breaks in humane conditions, we took a pioneering step in Türkiye. Today, we are not simply sharing a meal; we are listening to the life-safety risks our couriers face in traffic, hearing about the challenges of their profession, and discussing together what we can do. As Bornova Municipality, we will continue to stand by workers and couriers and develop projects that make their lives easier.”

City Council President Mengüş: “We Are Building a Bridge in the Struggle for Rights”

Bornova City Council President Attorney Doğan Baran Mengüş drew attention to the couriers’ organized efforts and their rights, stating:

“Together with the Moto Courier Working Group we established within the Bornova City Council and our association, we are working to be the voice of our couriers. The fact that our couriers were able to directly convey their concerns to our Mayor, Mr. Ömer Eşki, here today is proof of the strong bridge we have built between local government and workers. I would like to thank all our fellow couriers and our association who participated and raised their voices.”
