History, Nature, and Love Come Together

Bornova Municipality celebrated Mother’s Day with a series of joyful events, including a mother-child yoga session at Yeşilova Mound and open-air sports and dance activities in Büyükpark. Mayor Ömer Eşki joined the traditional run held in memory of Zübeyde Hanım, the mother of Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and laid flowers at her monument with his daughter. Celebrating the day, Mayor Eşki stated, “Mothers are the source of love, sacrifice, and life.”

Mother-Child Yoga at Yeşilova Mound

Organized by the Bornova Municipality Museum Directorate at the Yeşilova Mound Visitor Center, the “Mother-Child Yoga” event offered participants a unique opportunity to bond both physically and emotionally. Surrounded by nature in a peaceful setting, mothers and their children practiced yoga together.

A Breeze of Sports and Dance in Büyükpark

In collaboration with the Democratic Women’s Association, sports and dance activities held in Büyükpark added a cheerful touch to the Mother’s Day celebrations. Participants danced and exercised to music in the open air, starting the day full of energy.

Mayor Eşki Visits Zübeyde Hanım Monument

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki took part in the traditional run held in memory of Atatürk’s mother, Zübeyde Hanım, who rests in Karşıyaka. Joined by his daughter Asya Tuna, the mayor also presented medals to the winners of the run and placed flowers at the monument.

Highlighting that mothers are the source of love, sacrifice, and life, Mayor Eşki said, “We must honor their efforts, love, and strength not just on one day, but always. As Bornova Municipality, we will continue to increase the number of projects and events that support and enrich the lives of mothers. In the name of Zübeyde Hanım, I extend my respect and love to all mothers.”
