Morning Shift in the Heart of Bornova

1 October 2025

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki began his morning shift by inspecting infrastructure, asphalt, and landscaping works on Mustafa Kemal Street and surrounding roads. Speaking with citizens, Eşki noted that sidewalks were being widened and medians redesigned to provide more comfortable transportation. He emphasized that similar works are also underway in Pınarbaşı and many other areas.

Mayor Eşki started his day at the very center of Bornova with the first light of the morning. He inspected the ongoing improvement, landscaping, and asphalt works on Mustafa Kemal Street and 2nd, 6th, 8th, 15th, and 75th streets, where İZSU had completed infrastructure works. During his visit, he chatted with residents and provided information. Relevant municipal officials accompanied him during the inspections.

“We are working for comfortable transportation”

Sharing details about the works, Mayor Ömer Eşki said:
“We started the day in the center of Bornova, where our teams have been carrying out extensive works for a long time. Following the completion of infrastructure works, we are now focused on improving 2nd, 6th, 8th, 15th, and 75th streets along with Mustafa Kemal Street. After the underground works, we immediately launched an intensive asphalt program. In addition, we are conducting landscaping works along Mustafa Kemal Street, starting from Cumhuriyet Square downward.

Bornova and İzmir are generally aging cities, which means we often encounter unexpected problems in infrastructure. Thanks to our hardworking teams working day and night, we managed to overcome these issues quickly. Now we are moving on to landscaping. In particular, we are widening the sidewalks, straightening the road alignment, and creating a central median along Mustafa Kemal Street. These works are not yet finished. At the same time, similar efforts are ongoing in Pınarbaşı and other parts of the district. We are checking the sites early in the morning, before traffic gets heavy, taking necessary notes, and moving forward. We will continue doing everything we can to ensure safe and comfortable transportation for everyone.”

From the city center to Pınarbaşı: intensive works

In addition to the renovation and landscaping efforts on Mustafa Kemal Street, improvement projects continue across various neighborhoods of Bornova. Mayor Eşki underlined that his early morning inspections, before traffic congestion builds up, will continue.
