Close Inspections of Bakeries and Sidewalk Occupations

Bornova Municipality’s municipal police teams continue their inspections without interruption to protect public health and regulate public spaces. During a midnight operation in the Çamdibi area, personally attended by Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki, bakeries were inspected for hygiene and bread weight compliance, while unauthorized materials occupying sidewalks were removed one by one.

Legal Action Taken Against 4 Businesses in Çamdibi

The latest stop for Bornova Municipality’s Municipal Police Directorate teams was the Çamdibi area. During midnight inspections carried out particularly around Abdi İpekçi Avenue, which is heavily used by residents, 8 businesses producing bread and baked goods were inspected.

During the inspections personally overseen by Mayor Ömer Eşki, businesses failing to comply with regulations were not allowed to continue their violations. As a result of the rigorous checks, administrative action was taken against 3 businesses for operating in violation of the relevant regulations, while legal proceedings were initiated against 1 business for operating without a license.

Sidewalks and Streets Returned to Public Use

The municipal police teams’ work in Çamdibi was not limited to bakery inspections. A simultaneous operation was conducted against unauthorized occupations in order to facilitate pedestrian traffic and prevent visual pollution in the district.

Numerous materials, including posters, signs and umbrellas, that had been improperly placed along roadsides and sidewalks and were occupying public space were removed by the teams. Unauthorized ground coverings that made it difficult for pedestrians to walk were also dismantled and completely removed.

Warning to Local Businesses to Respect Public Space

As part of the operation, local businesses using public spaces in violation of regulations were also informed and warned.

Emphasizing that they are determined to maintain order throughout Bornova, Mayor Eşki stated that inspections will continue to increase across the district to ensure both that residents have access to safe and healthy food and that pedestrians’ right to use sidewalks is protected.
