The 15th Ordinary General Assembly of the Atatürkist Thought Association (ADD) Bornova Branch was held at the Ayfer Feray Open-Air Theatre in Büyükpark, in memory of Güney Temiz, the former Chair of the Youth Branch who recently passed away. The assembly, marked by emotional moments, stood out with its emphasis on loyalty, gratitude, and commitment to Atatürkist values.

Mübeccel Timaç: “One side of us is in sorrow, the other in light”

ADD Bornova Branch President Mübeccel Timaç stated,

“We are both saddened and proud. We lost Güney Temiz, who grew within our youth branches, just 52 days ago. We are deeply sorrowful. But at the same time, Ömer Eşki, who also rose through our youth branches, is today the Mayor of Bornova—he is our bright face and our pride. In our current national climate, we need Atatürkist thought more than ever, from women's rights to equal opportunity in education. The regression we see in many areas, from science to art, highlights the enormous responsibility we carry.”

“I am the follower of both our promises and our dreams”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki delivered an emotional speech, recalling his memories with his late comrade Güney Temiz and reaffirming his commitment to Atatürkist thought:

“When I met Güney Temiz, it felt like I had found my twin, my brother. While he served as Youth Chair in ADD, I held the same role in the CHP. Later, we both took on different responsibilities. As a mayor who came from ADD, I will remain a follower of both the promise we made to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the dreams Güney and I built together.”

At the end of his speech, Mayor Eşki presented the keys of the building allocated to the ADD Bornova Branch to the association’s Honorary President Doğan Aygen, receiving great applause from the attendees.

New Executive Board Elected

Following the voting, new members of the executive, auditing, and disciplinary boards as well as delegates to the national congress were elected. Mayor Ömer Eşki received the highest number of votes and was elected as a delegate to the national headquarters.
