“Life in Bornova Is Becoming More Beautiful with Community Gardens”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki visited the home of Duygu Yıldırım and her family in Doğanlar Neighborhood as part of his neighborhood visits. Sharing tea with the family, who benefit from the Doğanlar Community Garden, one of the municipality’s key vision projects, Mayor Eşki listened to their requests and suggestions. The Yıldırım family thanked Mayor Eşki for all municipal services provided across the district, particularly the Community Garden, which enables them to grow their own produce.

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki continues his field visits with home visits aimed at identifying investments and services needed in the district on site and listening directly to residents’ requests. As part of these efforts, Mayor Eşki visited the home of Duygu Yıldırım, a resident of Doğanlar Neighborhood, and her family. Accompanied by Doğanlar Neighborhood Headman Eyüp Kocatepe, Mayor Eşki spent time with twins Doğa and Duru and their older sister Defne Yıldırım. He had a warm conversation with the family and asked about their satisfaction with municipal services.

“Our Community Gardens Are Strengthening Social Solidarity”

During the visit, the family discussed the Doğanlar Community Garden, one of Bornova Municipality’s key vision projects and a project actively used by the Yıldırım family. Sharing tea with the family and listening to their requests, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki expressed his pleasure at the strong interest in the project and said:

“We do not only visit our neighborhoods street by street; we also visit the homes of our fellow residents and share their warm tables. Seeing firsthand how our Community Garden project in Doğanlar Neighborhood touches the lives of families like Duygu Hanım and her children is one of our greatest sources of motivation. Seeing happy faces—people connecting with the soil, growing their own produce and benefiting from our municipal services—is a clear indication that our investments for the future are on the right track. We will continue developing projects that improve the quality of life in every neighborhood of Bornova.”

Duygu Yıldırım expressed her happiness about the visit and thanked Mayor Eşki and Headman Kocatepe for all the projects and services provided by Bornova Municipality, particularly the Community Garden project. Speaking on behalf of her family, Yıldırım said:

“We were very happy that our Mayor came all the way to our home to listen to us and established such a sincere connection with our children. As a family, we are making great use of the Community Garden that Bornova Municipality has brought to Doğanlar; it has truly given our neighborhood a breath of fresh air.
