Streets Are Being Renewed, the Face of Bornova Is Changing

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki conducted field inspections in Egemenlik Neighborhood and listened to residents’ concerns on site. He stated that asphalt paving works had begun in approximately ten streets where rainwater accumulation frequently occurred, following the removal of interlocking paving stones. While patterned asphalt applications are being introduced in the neighborhood for a more aesthetic appearance, the municipality aims to gradually expand this practice—especially in side streets—throughout Bornova.

Mayor Ömer Eşki continues his fieldwork without slowing down. Starting his day at the first light of morning, this time his stop was Egemenlik Neighborhood. Accompanied by Neighborhood Headman Şerif Ali Altıparmak and relevant municipal unit managers, Eşki walked through the streets one by one, listening directly to citizens’ requests and concerns.

Drawing attention to the issue of water accumulation during rainy weather in the neighborhood, Mayor Eşki stated that infrastructure and superstructure works are progressing rapidly. He explained that interlocking paving stones had been removed on approximately ten streets where the problem was most severe and replaced with modern asphalt applications.

“We Show the Same Care to Every Street in Bornova”

Providing information about the works, Mayor Ömer Eşki said they had implemented a project that would also create an aesthetic difference, in line with previous discussions with neighborhood residents:

“We started our morning shift in Egemenlik Neighborhood. Around ten of our streets here were being flooded during rainfall. We removed the interlocking paving stones and are now paving all the streets with asphalt one by one. We had previously discussed with our mukhtar the idea of using patterned asphalt in this area. We are receiving very positive feedback from residents. Today, we are continuing our work. We will keep working tirelessly until we bring this beauty to every street in Bornova.”

Eşki emphasized that the works not only solve infrastructure problems but also give the neighborhood a modern appearance, adding that they will continue to remain present in the field and maintain direct contact with citizens.
