Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki met with the neighborhood head, vendors, and residents at the İnönü Neighborhood Marketplace, listening to their requests while conducting inspections regarding order and hygiene rules. During the program, vendors were reminded about the proper use of price tags, avoiding misleading covers and lighting, refraining from shouting sales calls, and ensuring the collection of waste after market hours. Emphasizing the importance of marketplaces for the quality of life in Bornova, Eşki shared the municipality’s goals for clean and well-organized market areas.

The program began with a meeting at the office of İnönü Neighborhood Head Musa Işık. Following this, Mayor Eşki met with vendors and residents, offering well-wishes to the shopkeepers and speaking with citizens to hear their requests.

Reminders to vendors on order and hygiene

Throughout the visit, which included the participation of relevant municipal department managers and municipal police teams, key marketplace rules were highlighted.
Vendors were specifically reminded to:

• Display price tags showing the price per kilogram,

• Avoid using misleading umbrellas and covers,

• Avoid unnecessary or disturbing lighting,

• Refrain from shouting sales announcements,

• Collect waste and leave the area clean after the market ends.

Mayor Eşki underlined the significance of marketplaces in urban life, stating:
“Marketplaces are where both the economy and social life come alive. The order, safety, and cleanliness established here directly influence Bornova’s overall quality of life. We are on the ground to protect both the efforts of our vendors and the rights of our citizens. As long as the rules are followed, business prospers and everyone can shop with peace of mind. We will continue working together to create a model marketplace culture in Bornova.”

Requests and suggestions from residents were noted

During his tour of the marketplace, Mayor Eşki listened to residents’ requests one by one and instructed staff to record them for follow-up. Suggestions regarding sidewalk arrangements, shading needs, and internal marketplace wayfinding were assessed through on-site inspections.
