Meeting with shopkeepers and residents on Burak Reis Street

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki met with shopkeepers and residents on Çamdibi Burak Reis Street, listening to issues on-site and giving instructions to relevant municipal units for swift solutions. Visiting businesses along the street, Eşki also sat down for tea with residents, sharing information about ongoing and planned municipal projects. Suggestions regarding the use of vacant municipal lots in the area were also discussed.

Mayor Ömer Eşki visited one of Bornova’s busiest areas, Çamdibi Burak Reis Street, accompanied by deputy mayors, unit managers, and neighborhood mukhtars from the region. The large team conducted a detailed field inspection along the street, identifying issues on-site.

Issues heard, requests received

Mayor Eşki visited each business along the street, wishing shopkeepers “good luck” and listening directly to their needs and suggestions. Sitting with residents for tea, he took note of local concerns and explained ongoing municipal work. He also shared upcoming steps related to road maintenance, cleaning services, recycling, pest control, and environmental improvements.

Mayor Ömer Eşki: “We will run the municipality in the streets, not behind a desk”

During the field visit, Mayor Eşki emphasized:
“In our understanding of governance, there is no such thing as managing the municipality from behind a desk. Walking through neighborhoods and seeing issues firsthand is the most effective way to accelerate solutions. Çamdibi is one of the most dynamic and hardworking parts of Bornova. The requests of our shopkeepers and neighbors guide us. Just like in every corner of Bornova, we will continue to strengthen cleanliness, roads, recycling, and public health services in Çamdibi without interruption.”

Joint decision-making for vacant areas

During the tour, the use of vacant municipal lots in the area was also discussed. Mayor Eşki stated that these spaces would be planned in consultation with residents and neighborhood mukhtars to ensure they best serve the community. Residents suggested possibilities such as parks, social facilities, and sports areas.
