“Yeşilçam will become a completely different neighborhood”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki inspected the sites of planned investments in Yeşilçam Neighborhood early in the morning. He also visited the areas designated for two new urban gardens to be established in the Yunus Emre and Karacaoğlan neighborhoods, stating, “Very soon, we will introduce a renewed Yeşilçam to the people of Bornova—one that has overcome its infrastructure problems, enjoys smoother transportation, and offers new living spaces.”

The day began at the Cleaning Services Depot

Mayor Ömer Eşki continues his neighborhood visits without interruption. He started the day by visiting the Municipality’s Cleaning Services Depot, where he met with municipal staff beginning their morning shift, thanked them for their dedicated work, and wished them success in their duties.

Following the depot visit, Mayor Eşki moved on to field inspections in Yeşilçam Neighborhood, where he evaluated the planned investments on site and, together with department managers, identified the area’s needs and priority issues.

A comprehensive transformation for Yeşilçam

After the inspections, Mayor Eşki shared details about the upcoming projects for Yeşilçam, noting that once the infrastructure works are completed, above-ground improvements will begin immediately.

Pointing out that Yeşilçam has faced long-standing challenges for many years, Mayor Eşki said:

“İZSU will soon begin the final excavation works required for the infrastructure. Once those are completed, we will immediately start all necessary asphalt paving works. But we are not stopping there. We also plan to build a new marketplace for the neighborhood. After relocating the marketplace, we will redesign the traffic flow in the area. Streets will be reorganized into one-way routes, and bus routes will be revised accordingly. This will ease traffic congestion and significantly improve the long-standing parking problem for local residents. As we promised when we took office, Yeşilçam will become a completely different place with a new identity. First and foremost, we are entering a period in which all infrastructure problems will be fully resolved. Very soon, everyone will see a new Yeşilçam that has left its longstanding issues behind.”

Inspection of sites for new urban gardens

Following his visit to Yeşilçam, Mayor Eşki continued to the Yunus Emre and Karacaoğlan neighborhoods to inspect the sites where new urban gardens will be established.

Receiving technical briefings from municipal teams, Mayor Eşki emphasized that Bornova will continue expanding its network of urban gardens, which promote local food production, community solidarity, and healthy living.
