No Passing for Businesses That Fail to Follow the Rules in Bornova!

With the opening of schools, food inspections across Bornova have been stepped up to the highest level to protect children's health. During the midnight inspection personally led by Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki, businesses that disregarded hygiene and licensing regulations were warned, and the necessary sanctions were imposed.

With the start of the new academic year, Bornova Municipality has accelerated its inspections of bakeries and businesses producing baked goods throughout the district. The inspections, aimed at safeguarding the health of Bornova residents, particularly school-age children, were intensified through a midnight operation. Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki personally took part in the meticulous inspections, which were carried out by teams from the Municipal Police Department and technical staff, and supervised the work on site.

11 Businesses in 3 Neighborhoods

The teams closely inspected a total of 11 businesses, particularly in Atatürk, Evka-4 and Erzene neighborhoods, with a focus on areas around schools. Following detailed inspections, sanctions were imposed on businesses that failed to fulfill their legal obligations and posed a risk to public health.

Five businesses were reported to the Bornova District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry for legal action on the grounds that they were producing in complete violation of hygiene requirements. Action was taken against two businesses for operating without the required licenses. One business was directly issued an administrative fine.

Mayor Eşki: "We Will Not Put Our Children's Health at Risk"

Following the inspections, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki delivered a clear message, emphasizing that the conditions they encountered were unacceptable. Mayor Eşki said:

"At a time when our school inspections have begun, we have accelerated our inspections of bakeries. We are particularly inspecting pastry shops and bakeries in areas around schools. Unfortunately, the situation is not encouraging. We had to seal off several of them. We saw that hygiene rules were not being followed at many places where our children and we ourselves shop for food. We encountered very few businesses that were operating properly. We took legal action against the others. We will continue to carry out these inspections frequently so that you can consume food safely and with confidence. Our primary goal is to ensure that our citizens receive the highest-quality and most appropriate service."
