280 Streets to Be Resurfaced with Asphalt

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki inspected the ongoing hot asphalt paving works in Yıldırım Beyazıt Neighborhood in Çamdibi early in the morning, where old interlocking paving stones are being replaced with asphalt. Stating that the municipality aims to permanently eliminate the area's long-standing infrastructure and dampness problems during the current term, Mayor Eşki announced a major project that will transform more than 280 streets across the district.

Mayor Eşki Began the Day in the Field

As part of his regular neighborhood visits, Mayor Ömer Eşki started his day in the Çamdibi area. Arriving in Yıldırım Beyazıt Neighborhood at first light, he inspected the comprehensive road construction and asphalt paving works currently underway.

Accompanied by Yıldırım Beyazıt Neighborhood Headwoman Mürvet Dinsever, municipal council members, and department officials, Mayor Eşki continued his on-site inspections aimed at providing Bornova residents with safer and more comfortable living spaces.

Walking through the neighborhood street by street, he reviewed the ongoing works, listened to residents’ requests, identified deficiencies on site, and instructed municipal teams to address them as quickly as possible.

A Major Asphalt Transformation

Mayor Eşki emphasized that the project is only at its beginning and that its scope is extensive.

“We started our morning in Çamdibi, in Yıldırım Beyazıt Neighborhood. Our project to replace the old interlocking stone roads with asphalt is progressing steadily. We are still at the beginning of this comprehensive initiative. Our goal is to completely renew more than 280 streets. As of today, work on our ninth street has been completed, and we are immediately moving on to the tenth.”

“We Will Eliminate Long-Standing Problems During This Term”

Mayor Eşki explained that the initial stages of the project have progressed carefully due to the need for close coordination with infrastructure agencies but stressed that the pace of work will increase significantly in the near future.

Reaffirming the municipality’s commitment to fulfilling its promises to the people of Çamdibi, he said:

“Because of existing infrastructure issues, the first phase has progressed more slowly than expected. However, the work will accelerate considerably in the coming weeks. We are determined to complete the long-awaited infrastructure improvements in Çamdibi and permanently solve the chronic dampness problems caused by the old interlocking stone roads, which have affected many homes for years. Together with our neighborhood headwoman, council members, and local residents, we inspected the works early this morning. We identified a few issues that require attention, and our teams will address them immediately. We are proud and happy to be delivering on the promises we made to the people of Çamdibi.”
