Seed Exchange Festival at Merkez Pazaryeri on February 14

Organized by Bornova Municipality, the Seed Exchange Festival will take place on February 14 at the Merkez Pazaryeri, featuring a panel discussion, concerts, seed distribution, and children’s activities. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that preserving local seeds is of great importance for agricultural independence and future generations.

As part of its efforts to protect agricultural heritage and support local production, Bornova Municipality is hosting the Bornova Seed Exchange Festival on Saturday, February 14, at the Merkez Pazaryeri. The day-long event will include a panel titled “The Heritage of Local Seeds,” along with concerts, activities for children, and free seed distribution.

The festival aims to preserve, reproduce, and pass local seeds on to future generations, while bringing together producers and consumers to raise awareness about environmentally friendly agriculture.

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki underlined that local seeds are not merely an agricultural element but also a cultural heritage, stating:

“Local seeds are the memory of these lands. We must support local production and producers against externally dependent agricultural policies. In Bornova, we will continue to expand a sustainable agricultural approach that is in harmony with nature.”
