Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay inspected the nighttime asphalt renewal works carried out by Bornova Municipality on Sanat Street in Tuna Neighborhood. The two mayors also met with the workers and offered them baklava as a gesture of appreciation.

The works on Sanat Street, approximately one kilometer long and located in an area where industrial and residential zones coexist, are being carried out at night to avoid disrupting daytime traffic. Along the two-kilometer stretch, the existing asphalt is being completely removed and replaced with a more durable and long-lasting new surface. The project is planned to be completed within two weeks.

On-site support during night work

After receiving detailed information from Mayor Eşki about ongoing and planned works, Mayor Cemil Tugay stepped onto the asphalt paving machine (finisher) and personally took part in the process. Thanking Tugay for his support, Mayor Eşki said:
“Tonight, we are out in the field together with Mayor Cemil. We wanted to boost the morale of our colleagues and observe the ongoing work together. There is tremendous effort here, and I thank all of them.”

“Municipal work is challenging but highly valuable”

Mayor Cemil Tugay emphasized the dedication of municipal workers who continue their efforts day and night:
“Across every part of our city, both our district municipalities and the Metropolitan Municipality are working with great devotion. It is important for us to witness this effort on-site and say ‘well done.’ Municipal service is challenging, but also extremely valuable. We are grateful to all our employees.”

Sanat Street to be completed soon

Once the works—expected to be completed in about two weeks—are finished, Sanat Street will offer safer and more comfortable transportation. Bornova Municipality continues to improve road quality across the district through similar projects.
