Ömer Eşki: “May suffering and oppression come to an end all around the world”

Bornova Belediyesi organized a large iftar program at Bornova Büyükpark on the Kadir Gecesi, with the participation of approximately 2,500 residents. Ömer Eşki broke his fast together with citizens and expressed his hope that the suffering and oppression experienced in different parts of the world would come to an end.

The iftar program was attended by representatives from various political parties, council members, neighborhood heads, and many residents of Bornova. The event, where messages of unity and solidarity were emphasized, was further enriched by a traditional sema (whirling dervish) performance.

Eşki: “We are happy to share this table with you on this blessed night”

Speaking after the iftar, Mayor Ömer Eşki highlighted the significance of the Night of Power:

“Dear residents of Bornova, may your Night of Power be blessed. This night is more valuable than a thousand months. We are happy to share the same iftar table with you on this blessed evening. I hope we will celebrate the upcoming holiday together and gather again here next year for iftar. I also wish for the world to become much more just, more beautiful, and more livable than it is today.”

A wish for an end to suffering worldwide

In his speech, Mayor Eşki also անդր addressed the suffering and oppression experienced in different parts of the world, expressing his hope for a more just and peaceful future:

“I hope that suffering and oppression will come to an end everywhere in the world. Despite the economic challenges in our country, there is still a strong social structure standing. The reason for this is an unspoken culture of doing good and helping one another.”

Emphasis on social solidarity

Eşki underlined the importance of people supporting one another in sustaining society:

“There are still people in this country who contribute and stand by one another out of love for their homeland and humanity. I hope that, without needing such informal support, we can build a fair and social state together through the proper use of our taxes. I believe we will soon reunite with a state that protects those without support.”

Emphasis on justice and a strong social state

Concluding his speech, Mayor Eşki emphasized justice, solidarity, and the importance of a strong social state, expressing his hope that the spirit of the Night of Power would strengthen these ideals:

“I hope that those who exploit the vulnerable will soon lose their power, and that we will live to see days when justice prevails, when the rights of the oppressed are protected, and when the Republic stands as a voice for the voiceless.”
