In-Depth Cleaning in Two Neighborhoods Every Day

6 August 2025

The “Two Neighborhoods a Day” cleaning initiative launched a month ago by the Bornova Municipality has significantly improved the quality of cleanliness services across the city. While regular cleaning continues in all neighborhoods, two neighborhoods are selected each day (except Sundays) for comprehensive, deep cleaning. In addition, to prevent unpleasant odors during the summer months, garbage collection vehicles are regularly cleaned using special equipment.

No Street Left Untouched in 45 Neighborhoods

Sweeping teams consisting of 10 staff members from the Cleaning Services Directorate conduct detailed cleaning operations in two neighborhoods daily, except on Sundays. These teams thoroughly clean the streets and avenues, collecting garbage, leaves, dust, and other debris. The first neighborhood to benefit from this new initiative was Mevlana Neighborhood, and the program will rotate through all neighborhoods.

Vehicles Are Washed to Prevent Visual Pollution

To combat unpleasant smells and dirt buildup in garbage trucks during the hot summer months, Bornova Municipality has formed a dedicated team at the Cleaning Services Depot. This team regularly washes and disinfects both the interior and exterior of the vehicles, ensuring hygiene and maintaining the city’s visual appeal.

Mayor Eşki: "A Clean Bornova Is Our Shared Responsibility"

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that maintaining cleanliness is not just the responsibility of municipal teams, but of all residents of Bornova.

“We all share this city, and we can keep it clean together. What we’ve launched neighborhood by neighborhood is now becoming a permanent initiative. For a cleaner Bornova, we must act together in every neighborhood,” said Mayor Eşki.
