Bornova Municipality Brings Health Education to Schools for a Healthier Future

Through its comprehensive preventive healthcare initiative launched in 2026, Bornova Municipality has equipped 2,489 students from seven schools with essential life skills and health awareness. Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized the importance of early health education, stating:

"Instilling health awareness in our children from an early age is one of the strongest investments we can make for the future. Through these educational programs, we are preparing tomorrow's adults for a healthier and more informed society."

The Directorate of Health Affairs successfully completed its preventive and health-promoting education program, designed to improve the well-being of children and young people across the district. During the 2026 academic year, a total of 2,489 students from seven different schools participated in interactive sessions led by healthcare professionals, helping them develop healthy habits that will benefit them throughout their lives.

Building a Culture of Healthy Living in the Classroom

The program combined theoretical knowledge with hands-on activities that actively engaged students. Expert instructors provided practical guidance on:

  • Healthy nutrition,
  • Proper oral and dental hygiene,
  • Preventing posture problems caused by prolonged screen time and poor sitting habits.

The goal was to help children develop healthy physical habits at an early age while increasing their awareness of personal health and well-being.

Raising Awareness About Bullying and Teaching First Aid

One of the program's key components focused on peer bullying, one of today's most significant challenges in schools. Students learned about respectful communication, empathy, safe behavior, and building healthy peer relationships.

In addition, they received basic first aid training, equipping them with essential skills to respond effectively in emergencies and protect both themselves and those around them.

Mayor Eşki: "Health Awareness Begins in Childhood"

Expressing his satisfaction with the success of the project, Mayor Ömer Eşki highlighted that the foundations of a healthy society are established during childhood.

"Introducing preventive health habits at an early age is one of the most effective ways to protect children from illness and other risks. As Bornova Municipality, we remain committed to supporting both the physical and mental development of our children through equal educational opportunities and community-focused initiatives. The training provided to 2,489 students is an investment in a healthier future for all."
