A Meaningful Visit from Students to the Shelter and Rehabilitation Center

On October 4, World Animal Day, university students visited Bornova Municipality’s Pınarbaşı Shelter and Rehabilitation Center, providing food and care supplies for the animals. Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that the students’ awareness is exemplary, stating: “Love for animals is an inseparable part of urban life.”

As part of World Animal Day, students from Ege University and İzmir Kâtip Çelebi University Faculty of Medicine visited the Pınarbaşı Shelter and Rehabilitation Center, operated by Bornova Municipality’s Veterinary Services Directorate.

During the visit, students spent time with the animals, donated pet food, and contributed to the care of cats and dogs at the center with the supplies they had brought.

They also received information from municipal staff about the shelter and had the opportunity to observe the health and rehabilitation processes of stray animals on site.

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki highlighted the significance of the students’ sensitivity:
“The bond we build with our animal friends is both a moral and social responsibility. We are very pleased to see university students act with this awareness. In Bornova, we are strengthening our veterinary services and volunteer solidarity together to protect the right to life of every being.”

Education and solidarity go hand in hand

Municipal officials noted that the visit was important in terms of raising awareness and engaging young people in fieldwork, adding that such collaborations will continue throughout the year.
